10,630 yet to receive voters’ ID in Morang

Biratnagar, June 26 As many as 10,630 voters in Morang are yet to receive their voter identity cards after the Election Commission failed to send the cards to the district on time. Regional Election Office, Biratnagar said that all the voters’ ID cards had not been dispatched by the central office. Information Officer Bhakta Bahadur Bhattarai at the office said that the available ID cards were sent for distribution. Bhattarai said that as many as 929 ID cards have yet to reach Biratnagar. Similarly, as many as 400 cards at Sukuna High School voting centre and 200 cards in Rangali Municipality haven’t reached there yet. The election office has said that voters can cast their votes if they have citizenship certificate, passport, driving licence or any other identity cards issued by the government. According to Bhattarai, the staffers had been distributing voters ID cards in 669 voting stations in the district. He said that the voters ID cards would be distributed on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. As many as 563,870 voters will cast the ballot in one metropolitan, eight municipalities and eight rural municipalities in Morang.
