Training for Palpa teachers ends

Kathmandu, January 8:
A five-day-long training on pre-primary education and elementary class teaching methods for teachers — jointly organised by Youth and Children’s Development Organisation Nepal and Pre-primary School Bal Mandir Project — concluded here today.
Seventy-seven teachers, mostly females, from as many government schools in Palpa district had participated in the training. The organisers expect the training to benefit some 4,000 children between three to five years of age in Palpa and help achieve the government’s Education For All goal by 2015.
Addressing the concluding ceremony, president of Youth and Children’s Development Organisation Nepal and the coordinator of the Pre-primary School Bal Mandir Project, Nepal Nirbikar Shrestha, today handed over certificates and other necessary educational material for preliminary classes to the participating teachers.
The training focused on the methods to make education fun and playful for the toddlers, Shrestha added, This training was started 12 years ago and has benefitted more than four thousand teachers from 48 districts. Thaneswor Bhattarai, 55, a trainee from Khorsang Primary School in Satyawati VDC, said the training had boosted his confidence.
