Kathmandu, June 28 Already eliminated Indian Stars recorded a 20-run victory over Dubai Warriors for their first win of the Asian Club Premier League here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today. Stars — who were knocked out of the tournament after facing four consecutive defeats — scored 138-9 in their allotted 20 overs after put into bat first and packed Warriors for 118 runs in 18.1 overs. Gurmeet Singh scored 47-ball 48, while Simrat Bawa and Sachin Kumar added 14 runs each to help Stars put up a fighting total on the board. Warriors’ Satish Kumar bagged 4-31 and Deepak Arora took 3-29, while Sandeep Singh and Dawood Ejaz claimed one wicket each. In reply, Mohammad Imran scored run-a-ball 40 and Dawood Ejaz remained unbeaten on 33 off 27 balls but the Warriors failed to avert defeat. Stars’ Sachin Kumar took 3-18 and Kuldeep Singh pocketed 2-12, while Deepak Chauhan and Amardeep Singh claimed one wicket each. The result meant, Bangladesh Tigers, who have earned six points from four matches, became second team to advance to the semi-finals after Nepal Storm, who have eight points from four matches. Despite the loss, Warriors (two points) are still in the race with one match in hand. Sri Lankan Lions and Afghanistan Bulls are tied on four points. Lions have one match in hand, while Bulls have already played five matches.
