Kathmandu, July 1 Nepal’s Ranjana Dhami won bronze medal in the third Asian Para-taekwondo Open Championship in Chuncheon, South Korea today. Dhami finished third in the women’s 49kg weight category of K-55 section after facing a 14-6 defeat against Khurelbaatar Enkhtuya of Mongolia in semi-final match, informed team coach Kabiraj Negi Lama. Enkhtuya, who went on to win gold medal in the category, was declared the best fighter of the championship. Another Nepali woman player, Palesha Govardhan lost against Guldal Gamze of Turkey in the women’s 58kg event for K-44. In men’s event, Rohit Rai faced defeat against Jafarzadeh Mahmoud of Iran in 75kg category quarter-final match of the K-42 section. Earlier, Rai had beat Jang Youn-Woo of South Korea in the first match. Coach Lama said Nepali players put up tough fights against their strong opponents and that could be taken as positive sign for the team.
