5.1 magnitude aftershock hits Okhaldhunga, tremors felt in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU:
The National Seismological Centre has recorded a significant aftershock of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake of local magnitude 5.1 in Okhaldhunga district on Sunday morning. The seismic event was recorded at 7:43 am today. According to the NSC,the epicentre lied at Bitijor Bagaincha, with coordinates 27.34 °N and 86.49 °E in Okhaldhunga. The aftershock was felt in adjoining districts and denizens in Kathmandu Valley had also felt the tremor. Thousands of aftershocks followed the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015. Magnitude and frequency of seismic events, however, have gone down gradually.
