Kathmandu, July 2 A team of Armed Police Force today returned home upon completion of its one-year term as Formed Police Unit in the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. The 126-member led by Deputy Superintendent of APF Gahardhan Rai team was invited to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan by the UN for maintaining peace and order in the war-ravaged African nation. Additional Inspector General of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal welcomed them amid a function organised at the APF Headquarters, Halchowk and congratulated them on successful completion of their mission abroad. Speaking at the programme, AIG Khanal said the APF employees deployed in the UN mission on behalf of Nepal demonstrated high-level of professionalism in the international arena. He also directed them to utilise in the interest of the nation and the organisation the knowledge and experience they have gained while working with their foreign counterparts. “The security agency has attached high priority to career development of APF personnel and to accomplish the mandate and meet the organisation’s  requirements and expectations by maintaining coordination and collaboration with all wherever they are deployed, be it at home or abroad,” said AIG Khanal. He appreciated the role played by the APF team in serving the people in need during its stay in South Sudan. “The rescue works carried out by the APF team will help elevate the country’s name in the world,” he added. AIG Aryal stressed the need to stand united to overcome the challenges facing the APF personnel in the field and said mutual trust and relations would inspire the organisation to perform better in future.
