Kathmandu, July 9 A parliamentary party meeting of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party discussed the constitution amendment bill but did not take any decision today. The RPP, which is the fourth largest force in the Parliament, convened its parliamentary party meeting today after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting with RPP leaders Kamal Thapa and Pashupati Shamsher Rana yesterday and sought their help to pass the constitution amendment bill. RPP lawmaker Kunti Kumar Shahi said the meeting of the parliamentary party concluded that any decision on the constitution amendment bill should be taken by a joint meeting of the party and the parliamentary party. Shahi said the meeting also discussed RPP’s participation in the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government. Another RPP lawmaker Kamala Devi Sharma said party Chair Kamal Thapa told the lawmakers that the party would take a call on the constitution amendment bill only after adequately debating the bill. She said the parliamentary party also decided to issue a whip to lawmakers to vote in favour of the budget brought by the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government. RPP’s central committee which is scheduled to hold its meeting from July 19 to 21 will discuss the constitution amendment bill. “If required, the Central Working Committee of our party could take a call on the constitution amendment bill even before July 19,” she added.
