Rally to mark b’day

BHADRAPUR: A shovayatra went through the Bhadrapur and Chandragadhi bazaars after offering flowers and vermilion powder on the statue of poet Lekhnath Poudyal at ward no 7 of Chandragadhi VDC on Tuesday. The programme was held by the Lekhnath Library to mark the 122th birth anniversary of the poet. — RSS

Muslims mark Bakr-Id

BARA: The Muslim community in Bara district celebrated Eid al-Adha (Bakr-Id) on Wednesday. In the morning, the Muslims recited Namaj (Prayer) at masjid. After taking bath and putting on new dresses, they visited houses of friends and relatives and greeted each other, Hajarat Ibrahim, a teacher and resident of Kalaiya 7, said. People, who had been living far away from home, came home to celebrate Bakr-Id. — HNS

Royal couple’s visit

BIRATNAGAR: King Gyanendra and Queen Komal are scheduled to visit the district of Khotang on Thursday. The King and the Queen have visited Taplejung, Paanchthar and Ilam, Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga and acquired information about law and order situation. — RSS

Boy rescued

BIRGUNJ: People of Jamapur village, India, freed Binod Kewat, 18-year-old son of Rameshwor Kewat, former village development committee chairman of Tulasibarwa, Parsa, from the clutches of abductors on Wednesday, police said. The people came to the boy’s rescue after he called for help. The boy was handed over to his guardians. — HNS
