KATHMANDU: Nepal registered their second win of ICC Asia U-19s World Cup Qualifier after skipper Sandeep Lamichanne again took five wickets in successive games to defeat Malaysia by as many as wickets. The match was played at the Singapore Cricket Club in Padang today. In today's game, Nepal won the toss and invited the Malaysian to bat first in a spinning track. Nepali bowlers continued their rich form of venom as they bamboozled their opponents with variety of options at their disposal. Nepal's skipper Sandeep Lamichanne continued where he had left yesterday, as he again picked five Malaysian scalps. None of the Malaysian batsmen posted a double digit runs as they petered out to Lamichanne leg spin and odd googly. Malaysia mustered a meagre total of 58 runs in 26 overs in their allotted 50 overs game. Pawan Sarraf took 3 wickets as Sandeep Sunar and Kishore Mahato chipped in with a wicket each. Lamichanne was pick of Nepali bowler with 8.5-1-17-5. In reply, Nepal's openers again failed to provide a solid start to the chase, as opener Sandeep Sunar was out cheaply in the second overs. He contributed six runs with a four in his brief innings. Nepal's batting disarray continued as at one stage they were reeling 45-4 in 8th over. Dipendra Singh Airee failed to impose himself in the middle as he was clean bowled by Hafizuddin in the 7th over. Hafizuddin bowled a peach of a delivery which swang in the last minute after pitching as it busted through Airee defence to rattle the stumps. Nepal's Aasif Sheikh top scored with 23 runs off just 20 deliveries with 5 hit to the fence. After Sheikh departure Anil Sah followed him to the pavilion with a golden duck and he was caught and bowled by impressive Hafizuddin. Despite chasing a paltry score, Nepal kept on losing wickets at regular interval, however, Pranit Thapa Magar batted aggressively for his 18 runs off just 12 cherries with a four and a maximum. He belted a humongous six over the cow corner in Nepal's innings. Nepal chased down the total inside 10 overs with more than 241 balls to spare. Skipper Sandeep Lamichanne claimed second successive man of the match trophy for his scintillating performance with the ball. Despite Nepal's triumph batting performance again looked feeble. If Nepal are to progress to the U-19s World Cup they need to improve their batting performance and resurrect before facing quality opposition. Earlier, Nepal had defeated the hosts by four wickets. Nepal are pitted against Singapore, Afghanistan and Malaysia in the group. Nepal will play next against Afghanistan on July 20. READ ALSO:
