Janakpur, January 12:
A programme was organised here on Tuesday to discuss problems relating to ponds, temples and the guthi in the Janakpur Municiaplity.
Participants at the Janakpur Regional Development Council said a campaign should be launched to protect and conserve ponds, temples and other monuments of religious importance in the municipality, which are in a state of neglect because of inaction on the part of the guthi office. Dr Bhogendra Jha said 14 out of the 94 ponds in the municipality are likely to vanish. Advocate Biswonath Upadhaya said about 50 bighas of land of the guthi is being encroached.
