Activists demand quick enactment of Disability Bill

KATHMANDU: The disability right activists on Monday demanded the government to pass the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill-2014 at the earliest. In a meeting with the the newly elected Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Asha Koirala today, the activists demanded to endorse the Bill that has been pending in the Parliament for long and ensure the rights of people with disabilities. According to a press statement issued by the National Federation Of the Disabled Nepal today, the activists also demanded to set a help desk in the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare as well as establish Disable Rehabilitation Centre in all seven provinces for the conflict victims with disabilities. Meanwhile, Minister Koirala also committed to pass the Bill as soon as possible. Former lawmaker Indra Maya Gurung, NFDN Coordinator Tek Nath Neupane among others were present in the meeting.
