NC, Maoist Centre to make alliance in DCC elections

KATHMANDU: The major ruling parties Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre have agreed to make an alliance for the upcoming District Coordination Committee (DCC) elections. A joint meeting of a taskforce of both the parties made the agreement for the alliance for the districts, where both the parties would not be able to garner majority votes alone, said Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi. According to the Election Commission, the election of the DCC is taking place in all districts except those of Province no. 2 after the local level election. Earlier, the two parties had made the alliance for the first and second phase of local level elections. NC leaders Nidhi, Ram Sharan Mahat and Ramesh Lekhak and and from CPN Maoist Centre Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara and leader Barshaman Pun among others were present at the meeting.
