Landslide obstructs Pushpalal Highway, taxi driver injured

BAGLUNG: Vehicular movement along the Pushpalal Highway has been obstructed due to a landslide triggered by incessant rain at Kauche road section in Righa of Galkot Municipality-11 in Baglung district on Tuesday evening. The rainfall-triggered landslide fell from 150 metres above and covered the road making it difficult to clear the debris last night, informed Ward chief of Galkot Municipality-11 Dambar Shirisa. In the landslide, a taxi driver was injured after the debris fell on the taxi (Dha 1 Ja 657) en route from Galkot to Manewa in the district, informed the Police Head Constable Kamal Bhattrai at the Kharbang-based Police Post. However, the driver Thamman Pariyar managed to escape by breaking the window glass, added Bhattarai. Injured Pariyar who was injured in his head and back is undergoing treatment in a local hospital while the taxi is still under the debris, informed Bhattarai. The landslide has affected the transportation in the areas of Burtibang, Kharbang and the district headquarters along with other districts.

The removal of debris is underway and the transportation would be resumed this afternoon, said police.
