Kathmandu, August 3 Locals have agreed to allow dumping of solid waste collected in Kathmandu Valley at Okharpauwa landfill site for the time being following talks with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya yesterday. The locals had obstructed garbage disposal at the site demanding proper management of waste. According to Co-spokesperson for KMC Nama Raj Dhakal, locals agreed to allow dumping of waste at the landfill site after talks with Mayor Shakya. “Okharpauwa landfill site was built to manage waste produced in Kathmandu Valley for two years, but  the locals are concerned as the KMC has been dumping waste at the site for the past 12 years,” Dhakal told THT. He added that locals were ready to temporarily allow dumping of waste at the landfill site after Mayor Shakya made a commitment to visit the landfill site and resolve their problems. READ ALSO:
