Bhairahawa, January 15:
Maoists today blocked traffic for six hours on the Bhairahawa-Lumbini road section. Traffic
came to a halt after the Maoists placed two bombs on the road at Hati Bangai VDC-1.
Eyewitnesses said the Maoists came on a microbus bound for Lumbini from Bhairahawa and placed the bombs. Locals had to face a harrowing time for six hours. Traffic resumed in the afternoon after a bomb disposal squad of the Royal Nepalese Army arrived from Butwal and deactivated the bombs.
The Maoists also left pamphlets declaring, “Destabilise the municipal polls, prepare for election to a constituent assembly.”
