DAMAULI: Two youth have been arrested in possession of a pistol during a security check near Madipul along the Prithvi Highway in Byas Municipality-3 in Tanahun district on Tuesday. SP Umesh Raj Joshi at the Tanahun District Police Office said 29-year-old Rabindra Giri of Byas Municipality and 32-year-old Shiva Raj Giri of Lamjung Madya Nepal Municipality-1 were arrested today. The duo heading to Damauli from Pokhara on a bike was intercepted by a team of police at Madipul and recovered a US made 9 MM pistol with registration number of 7171 and its magazine hidden inside a bag carried by Ravindra Giril, according to police. Police also seized the 220 CC pulsar motorcycle, iPhone set, Rs 18,500 cash, Samsung mobile set, Nokia mobile phone and driving licenses. Earlier, the district co-ordination committee had called a tender on various ghat construction and police had intensified their operation keeping on mind about the tender in the district. Last year, two gang had attacked each others with sharp weapon during a tender called by the District Development Committe in Tanahun. Meanwhile, the two had been kept at the District Police Office for further investigation, SP Joshi informed.
