Citizenship cards distributed at people’s doorsteps

Damauli, August 12 District Administration Office, Tanahun, distributed citizenship certificates in four local levels in the district, recently. The DAO team reached the Devghat, Aanbukhairani, Ghiring and Rishing rural municipalities and distributed citizenship cards to locals. Chief District Officer of Tanahun Ritesh Kumar Shakya said a total of 1,223 people received their citizenship cards in the four local levels. Shakya said the DAO provided the service to ensure that people were not deprived of their voting rights just because they did possess their citizenship certificates. “The DAO distributed citizenship cards to those who were unable to reach the headquarters for their citizenship cards,” he added. Two six-member teams, each led by administrative officers  Dilip Subedi and Nawaraj Baral, were dispatched to the local levels to distribute citizenship cards. The team led by Subedi was catered the service to the Devghat and Aanbukhairani rural municipalities while another team led by Baral provided the service in Rishing and Ghiring rural municipalities. The team leaders said each team carried out the campaign for two days. They further informed that their teams distributed citizenship cards to elderly citizens, women and people with disabilities. The recipients are delighted to have the service at their doorsteps.
