TAC judokas shine on Day-I

Lalitpur, August 12 Tribhuvan Army Club’s judokas Manita Shrestha Pradhan, Sumitra Rai, Ganga Chaudhary and Akriti Joshi won gold medals on the first day of the eighth Ambika Bahadur Chhetri Memorial Open Judo Tournament here today. In the women’s section, the 12th South Asian Games silver medal winner Pradhan beat Devika Khadka of Nepal APF Club in the below-57kg final, while Rai won gold in the below-48kg beating her clubmate Sushmita Lawat. Likewise, the 12th SAG bronze medallist Chaudhary saw off Magnolia Shrestha of Situ School in the below-70kg and Joshi beat national team’s Sunita Bohara in the below-78kg final. In the men’s section, the 12th SAG bronze medallist Indra Bahadur Shrestha of PAM defeated Sunil Nagarkoti of Rasuwa in the below-66kg final, while Mohan Sunuwar of Central Dojo won the below-81kg final match against Manish Mahato of Nepal Police Club. Similarly, Rabin Shrestha of NPC beat TAC’s Shiva Bahadur Baram to claim the below-100kg gold. According to Nepal Judo Association, the gold and silver medallists of the tournament will be selected in the national team.
