UML against constitution amendment bill: Leader Rawal

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML vice-chairperson Bhim Rawal has said that the party is not in favour of endorsing the constitution amendment bill tabled at the Legislature-Parliament. Speaking at an interaction programme organised on the eve of 70th Independence Day of India in Kathmandu on Monday, UML won't endorse the bill at any cost which was brought against the national interest. Former DPM Rawal also said that Nepal and India should review and change treaties accordingly. He also accepted that the recent differences between the two nations would not benefit anyone. He further said that Nepal and India relations exists since time immortal and unique in its own and should be based on Panchsheel treaty. 'Terai have been inundated as Laxmanpur dam, Mahakali and Koshibarrage dam have inflicted huge loss in Nepali side and India should be ready to address these issues,' Rawal lamented. Leader Rawal also appealed to the government to provide relief package to the flood and landslide victims across the nation. Similarly, CPN-Maoist Centre leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said that his party is in favour of constitution amendment bill tabled at the house. Leader Rayamajhi referring to Madhesi leader said ruling parties, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Maoists as all their demands have not been addressed in the constitution as they had wished. He also urged Madhesi parties to be flexible and accept the constitution and take part in the local polls in province number 2 on September 18.
