Dengue detected in teen girl in Chitwan

RATNANAGAR, CHITWAN: A teenage girl has tested positive for dengue in Chitwan district which has been battling with the spread of scrub typhus and swine flu viruses. District Public Health Office (DPHO) in Chitwan has stated that dengue was found in one person following the onset of the current fiscal year. Kit Control Inspector Ram Kumar KC said one person tested positive of dengue after health examinations were held on 224 patients. A 17-year-old teenage girl from Jutpani area of Kalika Municipality has tested positive for dengue. The girl was tested on August 11 at the Bharatpur Hospital during which she was found to be suffering from scrub typhus as well, according to Kit Control Inspector KC. A total of 105 persons have been found to be suffering from scrub typhus after tests were carried out on 391 patients in the district. A woman has died from the disease, DPHO Chitwan said. In the period of three months, swine flu was detected among 172 patients in the district. The scrub typhus and dengue show symptoms of excessive fever and headache while people with swine flu suffer from cold and cough.
