Kathmandu, January 18:
Political leaders, leaders of the civil society and NGO officials today accused the “royal government” of destroying the natural resources of the country.
“The Charkose Jhadi was destroyed during the Panchayat era. Lots of jungles were destroyed to bring autocracy,” said Gopal Man Shrestha, acting president of the NC (D), adding: “The same is being practised this time.”
Speaking at a round-table interaction organised by the Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN) today, he said the democratic government to be formed after the stir will solve the problems of FECOFUN.
CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said: “The royal family is grabbing the natural resources.” “Their desire will be fulfilled if democracy is not restored in time,” Nepal said.
FECOFUN secretary Bhola Bhattarai said the government is conspiring to hand over authority to King Mahendra Conservation Trust.
