Nepali youth activist gets international award in US

KATHMANDU: Nepali youth human rights activist Guna Raj Pyakurel has been awarded with Hero Award 2017 for his voluntary works post Gorkha earthquake, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United States, recently. President Mary Shuttleworth of the New York-based Youth for Human Rights International had handed over the award to Pyakurel amid a function at the 14th Annual International Human Rights Summit on August 24. Post the earthquake on April 25 two years ago, a team of 85 volunteers from all around the globe including Pyakurel involved themselves into the rescue and relief operation. Representatives from 40 countries had participated in the Summit.
