CAAN curfew passes

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has been providing curfew passes to vehicles ferrying passengers to and from domestic and international flights at the Tribhuvan International Airport. The passes being distributed in coordination with the security bodies will be provided to pre-paid taxis, Sajha Yatayat buses and vans, the CAAN office has said. Any passenger who is to take a domestic flight can get a pre-paid taxi by dialling 4-472299. Those taking the international flights have been asked to dial 4-477163. — RSS

B’day panel formed

KATHMANDU: A 556-member Auspicious Birthday Civic Main Celebration Committee has been constituted with social worker Uma Shrestha (Hima) as its chairperson for celebrating the 56th birthday of Queen Komal by organising various programmes in the capital. Various religious and social programmes will be organised on February 19 to mark the birthday. — RSS

Aid for the disabled

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Disable Assistance Fund Management Committee Rakesh Hamal gave away various materials, including wheel chairs, to 34 disabled persons amid a function held here on Thursday. Wheel chairs were given away to 26 physically handicapped persons and white walking sticks to five visually impaired persons. Two tricycles and a pair of crutches were also given away on the occasion. Expressing hope that the materials would help improve their mobility, chairman Hamal requested the disabled persons to use the materials properly and with care. — RSS

Aid for ex-Kamaiyas

KATHMANDU: The International Rescue Committee (IRC), Nepal, has distributed basic essential goods worth Rs 5 million to 1,000 ex-Kamaiya families in Bardiya district. The commodities were distributed to the freed bonded labourers living in Badalpur, Bhimanpur, Daulatpur, Gola, Khairi Chandanpur, Manpur Tapara, Manau, Naya Gaun and Rajpur. The commodities included hygiene supplies, water containers, blankets, winter clothing, flip-flops, kitchen and utensils. According to the IRC, INSEC volunteers and Bheri Lower Secondary School staff assisted the IRC with the distribution that took place at the school at Lalitapur, Bardiya. — RSS
