Pokhara, September 1 CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli remarked that regressive forces were trying to destroy his party by launching various anti-UML activities but without success. Speaking at a function organised to welcome new entrants to his party in Pokhara today, Oli said the forces were bound to perish themselves one day while trying to harm UML, a party which he said advocated nationalism. Around two dozen cadres from Akhanda Nepal Party defected CPN UML amid the function. The former prime minister also said the ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Centre’s political ideology had now lost its relevance. “Hence, there are only two major rival forces in the country namely, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. The existence of CPN-MC will be almost over after the upcoming polls,” said Oli. He claimed that his party would win most seats in the local level elections in Province 2 slated for September 18. “UML will also sweep provincial and parliamentary elections in all provinces,” he said. He further added, “Irrespective of electoral alliances of other parties, UML will contest the elections alone. Considering developmental projects across all belts initiated by UML while in government, people from hills and Tarai support our party alike.”
