New executive committee at SEJON

Kathmandu, September 1 The 18th annual general meeting of the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON) today elected its new executive committee under the leadership of Pushpa Raj Acharya. Acharya is associated with The Himalayan Times. Acharya secured his position to the top post of SEJON beating Mod Dhakal (The Rising Nepal) — another candidate vying for the post — with 12 votes. Acharya secured 118 votes out of the 227 votes that were cast during the election today. Similarly, Prabhat Bhattarai (Bizmandu) and Bhim Gautam (Karobar Daily) have been elected to the post of vice president and general secretary, respectively. While Sujan Oli (Capital Magazine) was elected to the post of secretary, Bhagawat Bhattarai (thahakhabar.com) made it to the post of treasurer. Likewise, Eliza Upreti (Nepalipaisa.com), Himal Poudel (Image Television), Sagar Ghimire (Republica), Krishna Rijal (Naya Patrika) and Shiva Bohara (Karobar Daily) were elected as the executive committee members of SEJON. Speaking after the election, newly elected President of SEJON Acharya said that he would do his best to enhance the capacity of economic journalists in the country and provide insurance facility to the members of SEJON during his tenure.
