DPM Mahara off to China on six-day official visit

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Wednesday left on a six-day official visit to Beijing, China. Mahara, leading a four-member delegation, is visiting the Chinese Capital at an invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. The government officials including Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shanker Das Bairagi and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong reached Tribhuvan International Airport to see off the delegation. During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister would hold a meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister and his delegation and Chinese senior leaders and also attend a discussion programme to be held at the Beijing-based China Foreign Affairs University. Senior officials of in foreign ministries of both the countries and Beijing-based Nepalese Embassy would attend the bilateral meetings. The Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate Nepal's Consulate General's office in Guangzhou and address a gathering and meet the provincial leaders. He is scheduled to return home on September 11.
