NA squad defuses bomb in Pokhara under-construction bazaar

POKHARA: A squad of the Nepali Army (NA) on Monday defused a cylinder bomb placed on the premises of Pokhara Sasto Bazaar in Prithvi Chok, of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City-9 in Kaski district. The  locals had informed police after sighting the cylinder bomb placed in the western part of the bazaar, informed police. A technical team dispatched from NA's Kalibhanjyang Battallion defused the bomb that was connected to a  battery with wire, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Khatri at the District Police Office, Kaski. The technical team disconnected the bomb from the battery and took it with them, added DSP Khatri. It has been learnt that the area where the incident took place, is owned by Nepal Airlines Corporation and has been leased to an entrepreneur. The entrepreneur began constructing new bazaar a month ago, displacing 217 shops in the area. The displaced shop owners had protested over the construction of new bazaar. Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is underway and the search is on for the culprits targeting the terror attack, said the DPO.
