Kathmandu, March 21:

The Nepali Congress(Democratic) CWC meet ended today with emphasis on the “restructuring of the state machinery”, but remained silent over the unification move with the Nepali Congress.

According to the party, the restucturing of the state machinery comprises regional administration, regional autonomy, regional parliament, full decentralisation, review on current election system and service delivery to the rural population, among others.

“The party sees a need of a wider consultation with all party units, other political parties, intellectuals, academicians and civil society for the purpose of restructuring state machinery,” the party said in a statement. It strongly criticised the government for failing to provide security in Bhojpur and Myagdi. “It is now clear that the government is not able to protect district headquarters and in such a time the government does not have political and administrative capacity to hold the election,” it said.

Saying that reactivating the constitution is the only way out of the current political stalemate, the party has demanded reinstatement of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister. The CWC meet has, however, remained silent over the issue of party unity with NC. Party spokesperson Hom Nath Dahal, said the NC was not serious on the unity issue.
