Dhangadi, October 5 Dissatisfaction has surfaced among Nepali Congress leaders and cadres over picking candidates for upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections. Due to the soaring faction-based dispute, the list of aspiring candidates in the districts of province 7 has become very big. As many as 62 persons have been recommended from Doti district alone. “Names of all aspirant candidates from districts have been sent to the centre. It was hard to shortlist candidates as there was possibility of missing names of many of them,” said NC Doti president Pradip Deuba. Two separate lists of possible candidates have been sent to the party’s central committee from Dadeldhura. Both groups loyal to the Deuba faction dispatched separate lists for the provincial and parliamentary elections under both the First-Past-the-Post and Proportional Representation Electoral System to the centre. However, both groups have recommended only Sher Bahadur Deuba’s name for the election of the parliamentary representative from the district. Similarly, the number of prospective candidates for the provincial and parliamentary elections has reached 48 in Darchula district. As the district leadership could not settle dispute, names of all the aspiring candidates were sent to the centre. Names of as many as 120 candidates have been recommended for the provincial and parliamentary election from the party in Achham, as per NC Achham spokesperson Bed Prakash Timilsena. A total of 42 prospective candidates’ names have been recommended from Bajura as well. Likewise, as many as 52 and 45 persons have been recommended from Bajhang and Baitadi respectively to finalise candidates. Party leaders in Kailali and Kanchanpur are yet to recommend names of possible candidates from these two districts.
