KATHMANDU: Eligible beneficiaries of government’s housing grant can now choose to rebuild their houses in another quake-hit neighbouring district. Amending the Guidelines on Grant Distribution to Private Houses, the NRA has introduced a provision for the people of vulnerable settlement to get additional Rs 200,000 to purchase land in the same district or another quake-hit district that shares the border with their district, on top of Rs 300,000 provided for reconstruction of individual houses. The affected people who are not in the vulnerable settlement will also be able to rebuild houses in the neighbouring quake-hit district, but they will not be provided the additional grant to purchase the land, according to Dhruba Prasad Sharma, executive member of the NRA.
