Kathmandu, October 26 The respective governments of Nepal and Jordan have agreed to form a joint technical committee to implement the bilateral labour agreement (BLA) signed between the two countries on October 18. Labour and Employment Minister Farmullha Mansur and his counterpart from Jordan Ali Ghezawi had signed on the BLA in Kathmandu. According to Bhuwan Kumar Acharya, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), joint secretaries from both countries will lead the technical committee and create a base to implement the BLA. “As per the provision of the bilateral agreement both countries will form the technical committee. The committee will play a major role to implement the BLA and protect Nepali migrant workers who are in Jordan,” Acharya said. The meeting of the joint technical committee will be held annually. As per the provision of the BLA, Nepali migrant workers will get facility of free visa and free ticket. The government has already implemented free visa and free ticket provision for workers who want to go to Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Malaysia. After signing the BLA, Jordan is also in this list now. Both the governments have agreed to select migrant workers without any cost being incurred by the worker, issue authentic contract paper, provide full insurance for migrant Nepali workers during the contract period and provide minimum salary. Similarly, the joint technical committee will form another committee to settle disputes between workers and the company they are working in and to provide security to Nepali migrant workers during their job tenure.
