Left alliance allocates poll constituencies in Biratnagar

Biratnagar, October 29 The left alliance has shared six parliamentary and 12 provincial constituencies in Biratnagar of Morang for elections. After a prolonged discussion on constituency sharing, the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre forged on the issue today. UML has got four while CPN-MC has been given two constituencies for the parliamentary elections while both forces will be sharing fifty-fifty seats, six each, for the provincial election. According to Shiva Kumar Mandal, a CPN-MC politburo member, CPN-MC candidates will be contesting the House of Representatives polls in constituencies 4 and 5, whereas the UML candidates will be running in constituencies 1, 2, 3 and 6. Likewise, CPN-MC candidates will contest provincial polls in constituencies 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Ka and Constituency 5 kha while UML candidates will contest in constituencies 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Kha and 5 Ka. CPN-MC’s Sabitri Kumar Kafle and Shiva Kumar Mandal are contesting parliamentary polls from constituencies 4 and 5 respectively. Similarly, Kul Prasad Samba will contest provincial polls in Constituency 1 Ka, Ganesh Upreti in Constituency 2 Ka, Gita Timsina in Constituency 3 Ka, Bijaya Bishwash Tharu in Constituency 4 Ka and Jeevan Acharya from Constituency 6 Ka. The party is yet to fix the candidate for Constituency 5 Kha. UML’s Rishikesh Pokharel, Bhanubhakta Dhakal and Lal Babu Pandit are contesting parliamentary poll from constituencies 2, 3 and 6 respectively. One out of Ghana Shyam Khatiwada, Rupesh Khatiwada and Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe will contest the poll from Constituency 1, said sources. However, UMl is yet to finalise other poll candidates in the district.
