Chitwan, October 30 CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said his party’s electoral alliance with the CPN-UML was the beginning of unification between the two leftist parties. Speaking at a joint press meet organised by Press Chautari Nepal Chitwan and Press Centre Chitwan at Bharatpur airport, Dahal held that the left alliance had incorporated political and ideological contents for party unification. Stating that the left alliance contained the seeds of party unification, Dahal claimed that the alliance was unlike during civic polls when his party had forged electoral alliance with Nepali Congress. Noting that party unification coordination committee had been formed, Dahal urged party cadres and others not to take the alliance as merely an electoral alliance. “Left alliance is the need of the hour”, Dahal said, adding, “The left alliance is aimed at taking the country on to the path of prosperity after formation of a stable government,” he added. Dahal said he would contest the polls from Chitwan Constituency No 3 and whether or not he would be victorious would depend on the people’s verdict. “I am preparing to go into the polls from this constituency to take the country’s leadership, I believe people will understand this as an historic opportunity and elect me,” Dahal stated. When asked about Badarmudhe incident in which many people were killed when the ambush planted by his party destroyed a bus during the Maoist insurgency, Dahal said that he had offered apology to the people immediately after the incident. He further stated that he had met people affected by the tragic incident. “I have provided assistance to the victims on my behalf and on behalf of the state,” Dahal added. The party has taken action against people involved in the incident, he clarified.
