NC, left alliance in tight race in Bhojpur district

Bhojpur, October 31 Leaders and cadres of various parties of Bhojpur district are busy with election publicity campaigns ahead of the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections slated for November 26. Though various fringe parties have also filed their nominations, candidates of the left alliance and the democratic alliance are said to be in a tight race. In the recently concluded civic polls, the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal had forged alliance against the CPN-UML in many local units of the district. The Nepali Congress and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, along with other democratic forces, have formed democratic alliance for polls in the district. CPN-MC’s Sudan Kiranti is contesting parliamentary polls from the left alliance while CPN-UML central member Rajendra Rai and former Minister for Information and Communication Sher Dhan Rai are contesting provincial polls from the constituencies A and B respectively. Similarly, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, former General Secretary of Nepal Student Union, is contesting parliamentary elections from the democratic alliance in the district. Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal is backing Rayamajhi. FSF-N Secretary Ajambar Kangmang Rai and NC’s Govinda Bahadur Karki are contesting the polls from constituencies A and B respectively. Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha, among other fringe parties, will be backing candidates of the democratic alliance. Candidates and activists of both alliances have started claiming victory. “As I have been contributing a lot to the district, there is no doubt about my victory,” said left alliance candidate Sudan Kiranti. Similarly, democratic alliance candidate Umesh Jung Rayamajhi claimed that he would emerge victorious as he had been relentlessly fighting for democracy. A total of 12 forces have fielded their candidates for provincial and parliamentary elections in the district.
