Kathmandu, October 31 The Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal today finalised seat sharing in Province 2 for the second phase of provincial and parliamentary elections slated for December 7. This has created uncertainty over the proposed electoral alliance between the Madhes-based parties and the ruling Nepali Congress. The NC, however, has said it has been continuing talks with the Madhes-based parties for a possible alliance in Province 2. Out of 32 parliamentary seats in the province, the FSF-N will contest 17, while RJP-N will field its candidates in 15 constituencies. According to a joint statement issued by FSF-N Chair Upendra Yadav and RJP-N Coordinator Mahantha Thakur, the FSF-N will field its candidates in three constituencies each in Parsa, Dhanusha and Siraha, two each in Bara, Mahottari and Saptari districts and one each in Rautahat and Sarlahi. RJP-N, on the other hand, will field three candidates in Rautahat, two each in Saptari, Bara and Mahottari and one each in Parsa and Sarlahi. Of the 64 provincial constituencies in Province 2, FSF-N candidates will contest 33 seats and RJP-N 31. Both the parties will assist each others’ candidates in elections, according to the statement.
