US envoy meets NRA CEO

Kathmandu, November 9 A team of officials from the US embassy led by Acting Ambassador of the United States to Nepal Michael C Gonzales met National Reconstruction Authority CEO Yubraj Bhusal to discuss on potential support from the US government to expedite the post-earthquake reconstruction drive. In the meeting, Gonzales opined that the NRA has the responsibility to expedite the reconstruction drive and also ensure the quality of the reconstruction. He further stressed that the reconstruction activities should move ahead transparently, inclusively and benefit all the earthquake victims in an equal manner. During the talks, Gonzales shared his observation that the NRA has been facing challenges from the political level and also from the bureaucracy level. In the meeting, NRA CEO Bhusal said that he has expected support from all the political parties to accelerate the post-quake reconstruction activities and expressed commitment to complete the post-quake reconstruction works within the stipulated timeframe. USAID Mission Chief Peter Malnak and Laurin Regan, director of disaster risk reduction, reconstruction and resilience also participated in the meeting.
