Kathmandu, November 11 All three major parties have promised to remove disparities in the quality of education in public an private schools in their election manifestos, but none of them have outlined how they would achieve this. The Nepali Congress has promised to narrow the gap and improve the quality of education both in private and public schools. The party’s manifesto states that private schools would be encouraged to fulfil their social responsibility by providing scholarships to students from disadvantaged communities. It states that proper management of teachers is important to improve performance of public schools. The common manifesto of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre states that the disparity  will be removed  by regulating private schools and enhancing the quality education in public schools. Their manifesto also states that 20 per cent of the total budget would be allocated to the education sector. Currently, the education sector is allocated only 11 per cent of the national budget. In its manifesto, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has stated that the quality of education in public schools will be improved by ensuring community participation in school management. It also states that teachers would not be allowed to participate in political activities. Almost all political parties have promised to keep schools away from politics, however, they have not outlined ways to achieve their targets.
