UML leader Rai has narrow escape in bomb attack; bodyguard injured

BHOJPUR: CPN-UML leader Sherdhan Rai who is contesting parliamentary seat from Bhojpur Constituency No. 2 was attacked with a bomb on Tuesday morning. A bomb hurled at a vehicle carrying Rai and cadres exploded injuring his bodyguard Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Dilli Devkota's hands. Rai was attacked at a turning point above a gompa near Pikhu Khola while he was on the way to particiapte a election gathering in Gogane today, according to police. It has been learnt that all other travelling on the vehicle are reported to be safe while the vehicle is partly damaged. It is yet to ascertain the persons involved in the attack on the former minister for information and communications Rai, police said and added that the motives of the attack are yet to be figured out. Meanwhile the investigation into the incident is underway, informed police.
