Bombs go off in Sunsari

SUNSARI: A bomb aimed at foiling an election meeting of the left alliance at Pipalchowk in Itahari of Sunsari exploded on Thursday afternoon. However, no human casualty was reported. The bomb was hurled on the side of the road near the election gathering of the alliance, said Area Police Office Itahari DSP Sanjaya Raut. Former CPN-UML lawmaker Rewati Bhandari was addressing the gathering at the time the explosive went off. Sunsari provincial Constituency 2 ‘ka’ candidate Sarbadhwaj Sawa was also at the function. DSP Raut said police were investigating. Meanwhile, a bomb exploded at the house of CPN-UML Sunsari Constituency 1 parliamentary poll candidate Jaya Kumar Rai in Dharan-15 on Thursday evening. The house suffered minor damage due to the explosion.
