Kathmandu, December 10 Operators of domestic airlines have hiked the fare for all sectors after adjusting fuel surcharge, effective from Tuesday. Domestic airline companies have adjusted the new fuel surcharge in the airfare following the recent increase in the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) thereby making air travel costlier from Tuesday. The state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had increased the price of ATF by five rupees per litre to Rs 87 per litre effective from Saturday. A meeting of the Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) held today decided to increase domestic airfare. According to AOAN officials, airfare has been hiked by Rs 45 to Rs 220 depending on the sectors. While airfare for Simara — the shortest destination from Kathmandu — has been increased by Rs 45 to Rs 3,050, the airfare for Dhangadi — the farthest air-route from Kathmandu — has been increased by Rs 220 to Rs 12,320. Following the new adjustment in the airfare, mountain flights from Kathmandu will cost Rs 11,020. Previously, airline companies had been charging Rs 10,850 for mountain flights. Similarly, airfare for Kathmandu to Pokhara has been increased to Rs 4,730 from Rs 4,650. While airfare from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa has been increased by Rs 105 to Rs 6,055, airfare for Kathmandu to Bharatpur has been increased to Rs 3,505 from Rs 3,450. Airfare from Kathmandu to Biratnagar has been increased to Rs 7,220 from Rs 7,100. Domestic airline companies have also increased the airfare to other destinations like Nepalgunj, Bhadrapur, Janakpur and Tumlingtar. While airfare from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj has been increased to Rs 9,565 from Rs 9,400, airfare to Bhadrapur has been increased by Rs 150 to Rs 8,750.
