Chitwan, December 13 Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashank Koirala today argued that changing the party leadership just because of the party’s poor performance in the recent provincial and parliamentary elections would not yield a solution to the present problem. Speaking to journalists at his residence in Gaindakot of Nawalpur today, Koirala said the party would move ahead with new strategies after extensive discussion in the central committee. “First, let’s discuss our performance. Let’s find out the flaws. Then things can be settled through discussions,” said Koirala. He said he was also responsible for the poor election results. “Formation of left alliance on the one hand, and lack of strong party unity on the other, are responsible for the unexpected election results. However, we must not be disappointed. If we are unified and begin to cleanse the party organisation, we have a bright future head,” argued Koirala. He said unity among different factions of the party was the only way to strengthen the party. He claimed that democracy and socialism would remain alive as long as the Nepali Congress existed in the country.
