NOC hikes Re 1 on petrol, diesel, kerosene

A petrol pump attendant (L) puts petrol priced at Rs 99 per litre into a car at a Sajha Petrol gas station in Kathmandu, Nepal, January 27, 2016. A dramatic drop in oil prices, driven down by a glut in supply, is translating into a mixed bag for motorists. All countries have access to the same oil prices on international markets, but retail prices vary wildly, largely because of taxes and subsidies. Reuters

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Oil Corporation on Tuesday increased the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by one rupee which will be effective from 12:00 am midnight. Speaking to THT Online over the phone, NOC spokesperson Birendra Goit informed that petrol will cost Rs 101 per litre while the price of diesel and kerosene has been adjusted to Rs 78 per litre. The prices were adjusted with the increase in fuel prices in the international market, Goit added. NOC spokesperson also clarified that there is no change in the price of cooking gas and aviation fuel. The price had been adjusted recently on December 8.
