Kathmandu, December 31 The Election Commission today directed political parties and candidates to furnish details of their poll expenditure during the provincial and the parliamentary elections held on November 26 and December 7. Issuing a press release, EC Spokesperson Dinesh Kumar Ghimire asked concerned parties and candidates to submit details of poll expenditure to their respective district election offices. Political parties and candidates have to submit polls expenditure details within 35 days of the election. Both winning and losing candidates have to submit the details of election expenditure. The poll panel had allowed candidates of the parliamentary first-past-the-post election to spend up to Rs 2.5 million and candidates of provincial first-past-the-post election up to Rs 1.5 million. As per the Election Commission’s directive, parties could spend up to Rs 200,000 on each parliamentary PR candidate. Parties and candidates failing to furnish poll expense details within the deadline may be fined Rs 15,000 each.
