Narayangadh-Muglin road to be closed for six hours at night

CHITWAN: Vehicular movement will be halted along the Narayangadh-Mugling road stretch for six hours from tonight. Transport is being closed to expedite wall-cutting along the Narayangadh-Mugling road stretch from 10:00pm to 4:00am from tonight until further notice. Issuing a notice today, District Traffic Police Office, Chitwan, urged vehicles to manage their time accordingly for effective traffic management. The traffic office has urged vehicles coming from Kathmandu to cross Mugling Bazar before 10:00pm while vehicles bound for Mugling from Narayangadh have been requested to cross Ramnagar before 10:00pm. Heavy vehicles including trucks bound for Narayangadh from Kathmandu have to cross Lewatar before 9:00pm. Similarly, heavy vehicles bound for Mugling from Narayangadh have to cross Ramnagar’s Bhateri jungle area before 9:00pm. According to the office, any vehicle failing to cross the said places within the given time will have to stay in line for six hours at night. Inspector Santosh Pant warned of action against vehicles that overtake, leave the side and violate traffic rule. The traffic office said small and large Mugling-bound vehicles from Narayangadh will be stopped on the banks of Dashdhunga khola. Heavy vehicles will be halted at Bhateri and Ramnagar’s forest. Similarly, small and large buses coming from Kathmandu will be stopped at Mugling bazaar and trucks will be stopped at Lewatar. Vehicles coming from Tanahun will be halted at the other side of the Trishuli River. Narayangadh-Muglin Road section Engineer Shiv Khanal said around 800-metre wall was yet to be cut at various places. Around 14-km road has been blacktopped along the Narayangadh-Mugling Road till date, said Khanal. The Chitwan District Traffic Office has urged commuters and vehicles plying along the highway to reschedule their time accordingly. In a notice today, the administration has urged the passenger buses and small vehicles leaving from Kathmandu to various parts of country to cross Muglin before 10 pm. Similarly, passenger buses and small vehicles leaving from Narayangadh to Muglin along the highway are requested to cross Ramnagar before 10 pm and after 3 am in the wee hours. Likewise, vehicles failing to cross as per the aforementioned scheduled would have to stuck in queue for six hours. However, for trucks, ferrying from Kathmandu to Narayangadh should reach Lewatar by 9 pm and trucks heading to Muglin from Narayangadh should cross Vateri Jungle in Ramnanagar by 9 pm, according to the Chitwan District Traffic Police Office. CDTPO Chief Inspector Santosh Panta has said that any vehicle found violating traffic rules during jam along the highway would be booked as per existing laws. He expected support from all for the traffic management along the highway. Shiva Khanal, Engineer of the Narayangadh-Muglin road section, said 68 per cent work has been completed so far. He also said that 14 km road stretch has been blacktopped. Meanwhile, 800 metres wall chopping along the road has yet to be completed, according to Khanal.
