Cab falls 50m below road in Bhojpur; cabbie survives injury

BHOJPUR: A person sustained injuries after a taxi skidded off the road in Bhojpur on Wednesday afternoon.

The injured has been identified as taxi driver Nirkumar Rai (24) of Kopilasgadhi Rural Municipality-7 in Khotang district.

The incident took place when the taxi (Ko 1 Ja 2267), heading towards Bhojpur headquarters from Dinla, plunged off the road and fell about 50 metres below after losing its balance, according to Police Inspector at the Bhojpur District Police Office, Khem Nepal.

Critically injured Rai is currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital, Khadbari.

The incident has caused minor damages to the house of Uttam Chapagain, a Nepali Congress leader, according to police.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle other than the driver when the incident took place, said police.
