Unidentified viral disease claims one more life as death toll reaches 10

JAJARKOT: The death toll in Jajarkot has reached 10 as one more child succumbs to an unidentified viral disease that has gripped the District. According to Lab Technician Krishna Bahadur Khatri, one-month-old Bhupendra Nepali of Junichade died early morning on Monday while being treated. With this, the district has seen 10 deaths so far with five infants and four others falling prey to the disease. A team of specialist doctors and Nepal Army are providing treatment in the disaster affected region. The team led by Head Doctor Pawan Shakya at Primary Health Centre in Garkhakot has begun treatment on Saturday visiting the doorsteps of the victims. “We are putting constant efforts to treat the patients but we have not been able to identify the disease,” Khatri informed. According to Junichade Rural Municipality Chair Krishna Bahadur KC, so far, Junichade has reported more than 800 victims. “The orders to contain the epidemic and immediate treatment of the patients in affected areas have been passed to the respective authorities,” KC said. The Nepal Army and Shakya-led-team of doctors have treated 750 patients till Monday.
