‘Democracy has reached grassroots’

Siraha, January 25 CPN-Maoist Centre leader Narayankaji Shrestha on Thursday said no force could hijack democracy and impose authoritarian rule in the country. Inaugurating the first municipal council meeting of Golbazaar   Municipality, Shrestha said since democratic practice had reached the   grassroot level no force could impose autocratic reign in the country and with election to the local levels people had exercised their democratic rights to elect local representatives. Stating political movement and agitation’s end, he said time had come to focus on development and prosperity. He argued federalism had opened doors of economic development. He said the next government would expedite good governance for the next five years and take the country to the level of developed countries.
