Preparations under way for assembly meeting

Hetauda/Dhangadhi, January 30 Preparations for the first meeting of the provincial assemblies are under way for provinces 3 and 7 at the temporary headquarters of Hetauda and Dhangadhi respectively. Preparations in Province 3 are in the final stage in Hetauda. With the arrival of the team of experts from the Legislature Parliament Secretariat yesterday, preparations have been expedited for the first meeting of the PA. Employees from the Parliament Secretariat have got the meeting hall ready. A team led by Joint Secretary Rojnath Pandey is in Hetauda. The team comprises the deputy secretary, Section Officer Binod Paudel and first class non-gazetted Officer Ramhari Pokhrel. The office of the Regional Education Directorate has been turned into the Provincial Assembly Secretariat. The walls are being painted and the stage is being arranged. Work on speaker’s seat, seats for lawmakers and the dais have reached the final stage. The first PA meeting of Province 3 has been called for February 1. Provincial Assembly Secretariat Secretary Rojnath Pandey said that they were working day and night to complete all the technical works. Pandey said that three layers of security would be put in place. “The Provincial Assembly meeting will be held within three layers of security — the APF, bomb disposal team and marshals,” Pandey added. A mock meeting will be held tomorrow to manage the PA meeting. The first meeting will announce the date for election of the speaker, among other things. Similarly, the District Coordination Committee hall in Dhangad is being repaired. The Office of District Technicians will be used for Speaker’s office and Provincial Assembly Secretariat. Seti Zonal Transport Office is being repaired for the office and residence of the chief minister. The first assembly meeting of Province 7 has been called for February 4. Far western regional administrator Laxmiraj Paudel said that after the arrival of the experienced employees from Parliament Secretariat in Kathmandu they would expedite the preparation. According to Paudel, repair and construction work are underway. The Office of the technicians will house PA secretariat, speaker’s office, and parties’ parliamentary offices. The preparation for chief minister’s office and residence and the ministries is under way. Kailali CDO Govind Rijal said technical preparations could not take the pace due to shortage of experienced manpower. Rijal said that they were waiting for the team to arrive from the Parliament Secretariat in Kathmandu for technical and other preparations for operation of the PA meeting. Provincial Assembly members who returned to their home districts, however,are yet to return to Dhangadi.
