Lalitpur, January 30 Stakeholders of Nepali cricket today reiterated that they were ready to do whatever it takes to get back the Cricket Association of Nepal membership from International Cricket Council. Elected committee General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel, who is also the member of Nepal Advisory Group, said his group would do everything to assure the ICC. “We have been following the agreements done with the ICC and the advisory group and we will not get back from our commitments. As our primary target is to get CAN’s membership reinstated, we will support in every possible way,” said Pyakurel. However, Pyakurel said the elected committee would not withdraw the writ petition filed against National Sports Council in the Supreme Court for forming an ad-hoc committee to run cricketing activities in the country. “We want all the legal procedures to be completed before the lifting of CAN’s suspension and the writ petition would not be a hindrance for the process. However, we will not withdraw the writ until everything is solved,” said Pyakurel. Advisory group’s co-convenor Binay Raj Pandey, who is also the former president of CAN, said his role was to facilitate in forming undisputed CAN. However, he said that the district elections were held and committees were formed unilaterally which was not principally acceptable. “And new committee should look after the district elections and we have also reached an agreement for that. Similarly, we need to solve current issues as per the agreements and give a pathway that would also solve all sorts of issues in future,” said Pandey, who also said that the district committees needed to be run by the persons who contributed for the development of cricket. Similarly, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said the concerned bodies reached an agreement to end the crisis and all the stakeholders needed to unite and work collectively to convince ICC that everything was solved. “All the stakeholders have agreed to pass the statute and they need to stick with it. And if everything goes well, the ICC will lift the suspension by June. But if the agreements are not followed then NSC will take strong action,” said Bista, who added that the NSC would play the role of guardian in the CAN after getting everything solved.
