Bomb blast injures two in Pokhara

POKHARA: Two persons were injured in a bomb blast in Bijaypur of Pokhara in Kaski district on Tuesday. The bomb went off as Journalist Ghanshyam Pandey was taking pictures of the suspicious package, leaving journalist Pandey and Nepal Police Constable Kul Bahadur Khatri severely injured. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, Kaski, Khadga Bahadur Khatri, 'The police are yet to ascertain the cause behind the blast.' Two teams, Nepal Police led by Superintendent of Police Dipak KC and Nepal Army led by Major Bal Bahadur Thapa, consisting of 15 personnel each, were deployed to defuse the bomb but the bomb went off before the security squad could arrive at the scene, DSP Khatri told THT Online. A pressure cooker lid also has been found at the blast site, police said. The injured Pandey and Khatri are currently receiving treatment at Gandaki Medical College in Kaski disrict. Further investigation into the case is underway.
